The Rose of Dubai Sells For More Than $6 Million
So much for thinking that pink diamonds peaked after reports that the big seller at Christie's fall was the "Rose of Dubai," a pear-shaped 25.02-carat fancy pink. It was estimated to sell for $2.5 to $3 million but brought in more than $6 million. Four buyers vied for the chance to own the gem which eventually went to Amer Radwan of Dubai. The sale brough in $36 million and perennial jewel auction hound grabbed a pear-shaped 33.11-carat D flawless diamond for $2.48 million.
